“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body, by the power that enables Him even to subject all things to Himself.
Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.”
Philippians 3:20-4:1
Ways you can pray:
- My first prayer request for this week is for the baby believers in the schemes. Praise God for the new Christians, many of whom are first generation followers of Christ – thanks be to the Lord! Please pray for the Lord’s continued protection over them. Please pray, too, that the 20schemes churches would have creative ways in which to disciple and encourage these baby believers in the midst of quarantine.
- It is my earnest prayer that someday soon these posts will be filled with pictures of people and updates about things I encounter as I live in a scheme. I hope to take you along to see a bit of what I see! For now, though, I ask for your continued prayers in this season of waiting and preparation. Your prayerful support in this in-between time is of enormous value to me. I have found that there is nothing like waiting to reveal the depths of my need for God’s forgiveness and sustaining grace.
- Please continue to pray for 20schemes as a whole, too – they are doing beautiful work of eternal value, and they are doing it in a hard place during a hard time. Let’s pray that the Lord will continue to be their rock, shield, provider, and sustainer. He who promised is faithful.
Videos for this week:
The Pete’s have planted a church in Barlanark, which is a scheme in Glasgow. For the longest time I thought that the Pete’s were one family until I realized that they are actually two co-pastors both named Pete…Pete Stewart and Pete Bell. 😊 The Stewarts and Bells have faced a lot of painful trials in past few years, but they continue to pray and work their hearts out to see Jesus made known in Barlanark. I think the Pete’s and their families are living examples of how honoring to the Lord a life of humble, joyful plodding is.
The members of Hope Community Church have been making short videos of their “Hope Stories” (testimonies of God’s grace and forgiveness). Here is Pete Bell’s:
