“For it is you who light my lamp;
the Lord my God lightens my darkness.

For by you I can run against a troop,
and by my God I can leap over a wall.

This God—his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord proves true;

he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” -Psalm 18:28-30

Ways you can pray:

1) We can thank the Lord for the opportunity we have to share the hope of Jesus with the people living in Scotland’s most deprived housing schemes. And we can pray for many, many more people to rise up and answer the desperate need for laborers amongst this rich harvest. Please, Lord, send us.
2) Please pray for the single dads and mums in the schemes who have come to know Jesus; pray that God would continue to provide for them financially and sustain them spiritually during lockdown.
3) Please pray for continued wisdom for the leaders and pastors in 20schemes. I pray so heartily that the Lord would protect them from the lies of the evil one – and that the Lord would grant them continued unity, perseverance, and vision.
4) Please continue to pray, too, for me and the other 20schemes workers who are getting ready to leave for Scotland. Some of these workers are selling homes and taking big, faithful steps before they are fully funded. Please pray that we would continue to be faithful. Please pray, too, that the Lord would continue to provide for us and continue to give us joy and resolve in the midst of hard goodbyes and changes. What an honor it is to count all as loss to follow Christ and make Him known!

Picture for this week:

This is a picture I took of a back prayer/gathering room in Niddrie Community Church. One of the things I so respect about 20schemes is their humility and full dependence on the Lord. Church teams and leaders make it a point to carve out time every day (and multiple times a day) to pray together and ask the Lord for help. The 20schemes churches know that they can’t survive or thrive or make Jesus known without the mighty hand of God…so they pray. And they pray expectantly and boldly and faithfully. I want to be a faithful pray-er like that!

We are homeward bound,
