“If the world is ever conquered for our Lord, it is not by ministers nor by office bearers nor by the great and noble and mighty, but by every member of Christ’s body being a working member, doing his work, filling his own sphere, holding his own post, and saying to Jesus, ‘Lord, what will you have me to do?’” – Thomas Guthrie

“God’s children should pray. They should cry day and night to Him. God hears every one of your cries in the busy hour of the daytime and in the lonely watches of the night.”  – Robert Murray M’Cheyne

“Prayer does not enable us to do a greater work for God. Prayer is a greater work for God.” – Thomas Chalmers

“Learn that urgency in prayer does not so much consist in vehement pleading as in vehement believing. He that believes most the love and power of Jesus will obtain the most in prayer.” – Robert Murray M’Cheyne

WAYS YOU CAN PRAY:

  1. Please pray that we would be a people of earnest prayer. Pray so for me, for the believers in The Ferry, for 20schemes, for the Church. “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)
  2. Our brothers and sisters in Merkinch also posted a prayer request this week that I heartily echo: “Pray for us to suffer well. Pray for us to be ready to suffer with Christ. We face a heightened level of adversity and affliction in this particular Kingdom work. Pray for us to have Spirit-filled perseverance and heavenly-minded perspective.”

PICTURE FOR THIS WEEK:

This is the beauty of the bride of Christ.

Even as I wait to be with them, it is greatly refreshing for me to see from afar how the Lord is working through our brothers and sisters in Merkinch. God is honored by such a humble people…a people not “playing church” but actually loving and serving and waiting on the Lord with all their hearts. Never underestimate the brilliance of Gospel light that shines when the Church walks in a manner worthy of the Gospel (Philippians 1:27-30).

Brothers and sisters, keep being faithful. And keep praying! The Lord hears every one of our cries.

Eighteen days until Merkinch. Psalm 27:8,
