“By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness,

    O God of our salvation,

the hope of all the ends of the earth

    and of the farthest seas…”

Dear Family in Christ,

Another week has passed where we have been upheld by the Everlasting Arms.

This has been a rough week of warfare and grief, but also a wonderful week in getting to see the Gospel go forth in the midst of that. For all the darkness in the world, nothing can thwart the Lord. This is His Church, and the gates of hell with not prevail against it. Thank you for your prayers for Merkinch, for our little church team, and for myself. The Lord hears our cries! And He is indeed close to the brokenhearted. (Psalm 34)

WAYS YOU CAN PRAY:

1. In the winter months our church makes hot meals every Wednesday for folks in our scheme. Unemployment is out the roof in Merkinch, so a hearty meal can make a massive difference in somebody’s week. It also gives us at Merkinch Free Church the opportunity to build relationships with the people in our community. Please pray that folks will not only get nourishing food for their household but will also come to eat of the Bread of Life.

2. Since I am the second American to join our wee church’s launch team, we are throwing the first ever Merkinch Free Church Thanksgiving celebration. We’ll be inviting folks we know from the scheme, too, so please pray for us tomorrow. Please pray for a night of encouragement and delight, for honest and bold conversations about Jesus, and even that people who don’t know Jesus would be given the gift of faith. Pictured below is our Thanksgiving meal preparation. 🙂

3. Please also pray for wisdom and humility for me as I continue to dive into ministry as a cultural outsider here in Merkinch. How very grateful I am to be here. And how grateful I am that the Lord’s mercies are new every morning! Here’s the sunrise over our main street and over the river that curves around our scheme…

Psalm 65,

Claire
