This week our launch team spent time thinking on Ed Welch’s book Side by Side. Even just the first few paragraphs were so refreshing and encouraging:

“Your neediness qualifies you to help others. Your neediness, offered well to someone else, can even be one of the great gifts you give to your church. You will inspire others to ask for help. … We spend too much time concealing our neediness. We need to stop hiding. Being needy is our basic condition. There is no shame in it – it’s just the way it is. Understanding this, accepting it, and practicing it will make you a better helper.”

Would you pray with us that we would cultivate a launch team that excels in loving one another well and being counter-culturally transparent with one another? I’m praying that now, in the early stages of church family life, we would sow seeds towards courageously, wisely loving one another well. May we lean into the joy of talking openly about our struggles and leading humbly out of our weaknesses knowing that our neediness is an opportunity for the beauty of Jesus to shine vibrantly in Merkinch.

“Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Prayer Meeting Invite

In a couple weeks our church team will be having an online prayer meeting via Zoom. We’re inviting all our supporters to come pray with us. You all are a very important part of this work in Merkinch as you support us with prayer and encouragement. Thank you. It would be an honor to pray with you! If you’re interested in joining, you can contact me or click here to sign up for the Zoom link.

Stick close to Jesus today,
