This week marked the first time that several people around the scheme called out my name in hello as I walked around the snowy streets. Yesterday a lady even called, “Hiya, Claire!” from half a block behind me. While in one way people saying hello might seem like a small thing, to me it is a huge encouragement since getting to know people here and gain their trust takes a long time. To see that a few people already know that the team and I care about them is a wonderful grace of God. The Lord is building His church here even in lockdown, and that is pretty encouraging.
Please do continue to pray for the team here, that we would not lose heart and that we would learn more deeply what it means to endure and abide in Christ during this season. It’s pretty exciting getting to be on the “front lines” of ministry in Merkinch as we get to be some of the first to bring the Gospel to this community. But with the excitement also comes the reality that the front lines get a lot of the bullets, too. So please pray that the Lord would protect our minds and hearts as we do this work, and please pray that He would help us to endure with joy by the power of His Spirit. In our loneliest, most discouraged moments may the Lord help us to persevere for His name’s sake. He is indeed worthy!
The Lord is the strength of His people,
Claire
