Dear family in Christ,

I’d like to ask for your prayers specifically for the Bicycle Lady this week. This last Sunday she came to our church service, and we were able to have a good chat after Chris’ sermon on 1 Peter. She asked me what the meaning of life is… “What’s the point? Why are we here anyway?” And that was a natural opportunity for me to be able to talk with her about the gospel and why it is indeed good news. I am thankful for the Lord’s might that was shown in His drawing her to back to church even though she didn’t feel like coming, and I’m thankful for the open opportunity to talk with her about our Lord. Please continue to pray for her that the Lord may have mercy on her and save her!!

Life in the scheme is pretty raw for most of the folks here. Many ask, “We get born here, we have pain, and then we die. Why? What’s the point? Why are we here?” Please pray for them, that they would not try to numb their pain and hide their sin by running from the Lord but would hear the gospel and be brought into newness of life in Christ. And please pray for me and the team here that we would take every opportunity to speak with boldness and gentleness about our Lord Jesus.

Also, there are many things in our church and in our community that I can’t talk about on these updates…deep things of encouragement as well as deep things that have been a struggle. But even though I can’t tell you about these things, know that God is mightily at work here in our community and our church and in each of our hearts. So as you pray for the work here in Merkinch, I am grateful that the Lord knows what we are going through and what we see day to day, and I trust that He will guide your prayers and your thanksgiving!

Below: Chris and I were in Glasgow today at a 20schemes staff training day. As Chris gave an update on this past year in Merkinch I found myself so proud of my brother Chris, so filled with thankfulness to the Lord for our wee launch team, and filled with a growing love for the people of Merkinch. The Lord has sustained us thus far, and I’m excited for what He will do next…
