Brothers & sisters in Christ,
This has been a hard week, and I do feel weary and cast down. In the middle of it all, though, I have been reminded that Jesus is the light of the world. Why is this encouraging in a hard week of ministry? Because no matter how great the darkness in Merkinch or even in my own heart, none of it stands a chance against the light. Even the smallest of candles breaks through the weight of a dark night…how much more the light of Jesus in a weary world.
“For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:5-6
So as you think of me and the team here in Merkinch this week, would you pray for us that we would fix our eyes on Jesus and put our full hope in Him? And would you pray that we would have such great joy in our risen Lord, especially in the midst of suffering?
The love of Christ will keep us to the end,
Claire

Above: A view of Merkinch Primary School. Thanks for praying for me last week as I asked God for an open door there. I was able to meet the head teacher last week which is a big step. We will keep praying for a door to proclaim Jesus to the kids there!

Above: This week our team viewed a livestream of a conference on evangelism. I was encouraged hearing of a man who prayed earnestly every morning, “Oh God, give us the privilege of getting to share your gospel with those who don’t know you.” Yes, yes, amen.

Above: a glorious Merkinch sunset. Pray that our church family would reflect the glory and light of our beautiful Lord! Matthew 5:14-16
Also, this Friday we are serving a bunch of Indian food in our church hall and inviting folks from our community to come have dinner with us. Would you pray that this time would be fruitful and honoring to the Lord?
So grateful for you and for all your earnest prayers! Thank you. Press on in the strength of the Lord!
